Hi Bill,
Actually, spammers don't send out viruses. At least not
usually. It wouldn't serve their purpose.
People tend to use the word "spam" to mean any unwanted
email, but that's incorrect and too broad. "Spam" is
nothing but unsolicited commercial advertising. That's the
traditional definition, and its one that I believe we
should all try to keep and use properly because we must,
must, be able to make the distinction.
I completely agree with you on what you say other than
that though. Advertsisers of all ilks don't care what they
do or who they annoy or offend as long as the small
percentage of idiots that buy from them keep buying.
