You didnt mention what programs that does not work with Win XP(NTFS)
some older utilities wont work with NTFS
But you will find that the program doesnt work due to its XP and not the
NTFS partition.

dual boot system, one partition in NTFS and Windows XP and one in FAT32 and
Windows 98 but I find this a pain. Thanks.
