[24hoursupport] XP Swap File Question

Hello Group,

Does anyone know how efficiently Windows XP manages
multiple swap files on different physical drives?

The question came up simultaneously at work and on a
developers list I belong to. XP allows you to have a swap
file on every drive, if you want. The questions that came
up specifically are (1) if the aggregate swap file space
on multiple drives is the same as the allocated space on
the C:\ drive, will there be any performance degradation,
and (2) is XP smart enough to select which swap file to
use to maximize efficiency, i.e. not one on the current
active drive, one that is large enough for the current
task without spanning swap files, etc.

A third question that came up is, is it possible to
manipulate/choose what swap file to use for a specific
task from a .net program (C++ or C#).

Basically, how do multiple swap files work under XP?

Thanks,

Ron
