[24hoursupport] Internet Explorer Selection Annoyance

OK, here is something I'm really, really getting tired of.
When I try to select characters on a web page to copy and paste into another
document, in Internet Explorer the selection simply refuses to select only the
characters I want to select. For example, I'm working with Regular Expressions
and want to copy and paste portions of examples from the web into my code
editor to test them. So if I see the following snippet:
(19|20)\d\d[- /.](0[1-9]|1[012])[- /.](0[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01])
and want to select only the section (0[1-9]|1[012]), Internet Explorer
absolutely insists that I want to _really_ select .](0[1-9]|1[012])
It would be even happier if I selected .](0[1-9]|1[012])[- but I can make it
let me omit the last two characters. Or if I select from right to left, I can
omit the first two characters, but then IE insists I want the extra [- at the
end.
I know exactly what I want to select and that aint it. I don't see a way to
turn this very, very annoying "feature" off. Am I just missing it?
By the way, that code snippet is for date validation. Not that it's important
to the question :)
Thanks,
Ron
