Problem -finally- solved.
Okay, the problem kept 'jumping around', seeming to come from this
and that program.
I have two 20 gig Western Digital hard drives. The older one has
an error-free setup, the new one has the error mssg on boot.
When I run the Western Digital HD copy program to copy old to new,
the error mssg appears on the new, but thankfully, not the old.
So I used Drive Image 3 instead this time, and reran the copy HD
from old to new, with settings for slow, check for errors, check
for bad sectors. Now, both HDs are error-free.
Evidently, it is better to work with Drive Image in copying the HDs.
