I don't know of any program but this sort of thing
was the norm when I used to control my Epson
dot matrix printer from my Apple II. Can they run
the DOS software in a window? and print thru
windows? (I'm not sure what I am saying.) :^)

My HP Laserjet 5P came with software titled
"HP LaserJet 5P DOS Utilites and DOS Printer
Drivers" which I assume is something like what
you are looking for except for the Brothers
machines. It says the DOS Utilites provides a
Status Monitor and Remote Control Panel.

Good luck.
