Hi Jeff,
I have not used it for a year or so, have you read the readme and help?
I think you have to set up a location for the 'safe' to back-up to.

Here is the link to the FAQ's
http://rescue-me.net/faq-gld.html

"Q. I installed System Safe but when FileScan runs it says, 'Update your
safe now' and the signal light is red.

A. I installed System Safe but when FileScan runs it says, 'Update your safe
now' and the signal light is red.

You will get this response until you manually update your safe in System
Safe. When you first install, there are no files in your safe for FileScan
to check.

Afterwards, the light will be green, later yellow, later red according to
time elapsed since your last update. Updating at any time brings the light
back to green.

Note: If you're computer is set to anything other than American date format,
you can change System Safe's settings with the drop-down menu choosing the
Date Format option. Change it here to match your own computer's date format
setting.

Here are the time periods as determined by me with relation to system file
backup 'safe times' or reasonably safe backup proceedures.

Days since last update (system file backup):
Up to 15 -- Light Green -- OK
Between 15 and 25 -- Light Yellow -- Update Soon
Over 25 -- Light Red -- Update Now

To do this, follow the instructions below...

Load System Safe and click on the 'View Safe' button.
If your safe displays no files (empty) follow proceedure A below.
If your safe displays files follow proceedure B below.

Proceedure A
>From the main menu screen, click on 'Update' button. On the next screen,
click on the 'Update Now' button to start the update. When it's finished,
run FileScan.

Proceedure B
We'll have to reset the safe. From the main menu screen, click on the 'Safe
Location' button. If you have more than one drive, such as drive C and D
then change to the other drive. Exit completely from System Safe, reload
System Safe, go back to the Safe Location and change back to original drive.
Now follow Proceedure A.

If you do not have a second hard drive, you may insert a floppy disk and
choose that location. Switch back to the hard drive using the same method as
above, then follow Proceedure A.

If Proceedure B has to be used, it's important to follow each step exactly,
especially exiting System Safe and reloading. "
++ There is more on the web site.

I hope this helps

I can't get this program to do anything. I press the buttons for the safe,
