Radiolovers -- Free Old Time Radio Shows

http://www.radiolovers.com/

Today's site offers an extensive range of programs from the
golden age of radio. Readers may enjoy the site both for its
nostalgia quality
and its sheer entertainment value.

"We offer hundreds of vintage radio shows for you to listen to
online in mp3 format, all for free. Before the days of video
games, shopping malls, MTV, and the Internet, families used to
sit in their living room each night to listen to radio shows such
as Abbott and Costello, Superman, Groucho Marx, The Avenger,
Gunsmoke, Sherlock Homes, and many others. When TV become popular
in the 1950's, most of these shows went off the air, but they now
live on at websites such as this one and on weekly nostalgia
radio broadcasts worldwide. ... We do not own the copyrights to
any of the shows available on this site. We believe that any
copyrights have expired, and that many of the shows are in the
public domain because they were never copyrighted." - from the
website

The site presents its collection in the familiar MP3 format as
downloadable files for visitors' preferred player applications.
Among the sections are Comedies, Dramas, Mysteries and Variety.
Some of the specific titles, "Artie Shaw" for example, under the
Music category, may have only one broadcast listed, while others
like "Hopalong Cassidy" may have more than a dozen episodes
available. The Miscellaneous category is particularly
interesting, with its collection of programs such as "Afloat with
Henry Morgan", "The Bickersons" and "Hornblower Stories". Tucked
away in the compilation are gems like the "Tommy Dorsey and Duke
Ellington" broadcast
in the Big Bands section.
