I talked to Rich yesterday. He said that at this low voltage, we really
need the bulk option which is standard in the 30's. However, since we might
not be charging at full 30A (we only have 10 cells in parallel in the
scooter), a PFC-30 is an overkill. But, when we size it up to a Sparrow
later, the 20's will get into thermal cut-back which might cause some
programming nightmares for us. I am more comfortable with using 2 PFC-30's.

Yes and no. I was planning to have 2 working Sparrows (may be I am asking
too much). I am only planning to use the scooter as a test platform. Since
I managed to get those cells for only $1 each, I figure the cost is low
enough to kick start the project even if I go back to use lead acid on the
scooter after this. We can learn as much as we could or even break some
cells or, worse, burn the scooter in phase 1. Starting straight on a
Sparrow posts too much risk and cost.
Do you have other charger options in mind? We need one that could let us
migrate to the PFC chargers later.
